Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Awantipora and recovered contraband, and psychotropic substances from their possession, officials said Sunday.
A police spokesman said in Ganderbal, police arrested two drug peddlers identified as Shabir Ahmad Zargar, son of Bashir Ahmad Zargar, and Mohammad Ashraf Zargar, son of Nazir Ahmad Zargar, both residents of Batwina. On their search, police recovered Codeine Phosphate, Petril (Clonazepam) and Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus Capsules from their possession.
In Awantipora, at Kawani Brabandin 600 grams of cannabis powder was recovered from the possession of Arshid Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Ladermand Awantipora. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective police stations and an investigation has been initiated, police said.
