Visits Ganderbal; takes stock of agriculture scenario

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammed Iqbal along with Joint Director Agriculture Inputs, Mohammad Younis Chowdhury, today visited different areas of the Ganderbal district and took stock of the agriculture scenario in the district.

During the visit, the Director of Agriculture inspected hi-tech polyhouses at FTEC premises in Ganderbal and held a detailed visit to Preng village and adjacent areas.

Speaking to the farmers at different places, the Director of Agriculture marked the importance of integrated farming for the area. He said to the farmers that the geo-climatic conditions of the concerned area are suitably conducive for the adoption of integrated farms of cultivation.

Iqbal assured the farming community of every possible technical guidance from the department. He asked the concerned offices to prepare DPRs for the implementation of various initiatives under the Holistic Agriculture development programme in the area.

Later, the Director of Agriculture visited the DCTC mushroom and soil testing lab Ganderbal where he held an interactive session with technical experts and staff members of both establishments.
