Srinagar: Police have booked a “notorious” drug smuggler under PIT NDPA Act in Baramulla, officials informed Friday.
They said the drug-peddler Farooq Ahmad Chopan alias Beta, son of Ghulam Hassan Chopan of Watergam Wagoora Baramulla, has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, a police spokesperson said.
He said Chopan was involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth of Kreeri and other areas of Baramulla. Despite his involvement in many FIRs, he did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth, police said.
