Our endeavor to saturate identified population with Employment Generation Schemes: Dr Hina Shafi

Presides over a daylong awareness camp at Watergam Baramulla

BARAMULLA: In a bid to ensure that the benefits of Employment Generation Schemes are provided to the youth at a grassroots level, a daylong awareness camp was today organised by Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) at Watergam Baramulla wherein a series of events were carried out to aware the people about the government-sponsored self-oriented schemes.

The programme was attended by Vice Chairperson KVIB, Dr Hina Shafi Bhat as a chief guest while the programme was also attended by officers from district administration/banks, senior officers from the Board, and a large number of aspirant entrepreneurs, and educated unemployed youth of the area.

During the awareness camp, the officers gave detailed presentations about the modalities involved in the implementation of employment generation programmes viz. PMEGP, JKREGP, and other schemes.

A detailed deliberation took place wherein the stakeholders were informed that these schemes are online and aspirant entrepreneurs can apply online for availing financial assistance under these schemes.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Hina stated that J&K KVIB is working in a focused manner and the endeavor is to ensure that the benefits of all Employment Generation Schemes are percolated among the target population.

She enjoined upon prospective entrepreneurs especially women to come forward and channelize their energy for Nation building by establishing micro-enterprises.

On the occasion, the Vice Chairperson also informed that during the financial year 2022-23, Margin Money of Rs.14.86 crores has been released by J&K KVIB Baramulla for the establishment of 751 units thereby creating employment opportunities for 5824 persons.

She added that during the last three years, margin money of Rs. 57.48 crores involving bank loans of Rs. 155.98 crores have been released in district Baramulla for the establishment of 2638 units thereby envisaging employment opportunities for 20688 persons.

Extending appreciation to the team, the Vice Chairperson lauded the role and efforts of the Board as well as bankers in the successful implementation of the scheme at the grass-roots level in the district.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairperson assured that every kind of hand-holding support shall be extended to aspirant/ prospective entrepreneurs to ensure hassle-free processing of their proposals both at Implementing Agency as well as bank level.
