Srinagar: Police in Sopore have busted a gang of burglars by arresting three accused persons and recovered stolen property from their possession, officials said Friday.

Acting on a complaint of burglary in a shop dealing in sports goods at Botingoo Sopore, police on April 11 registered a case and during subsequent investigations rounded up several suspects, a police spokesperson said.

During questioning, three persons — Shoib Bhat, son of Muhammad Sultan Bhat; Rameez Ahmad Rather, son of Mohammad Ashraf Rather; and Nayeem Ahmad Najar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Najar, all residents of Usmanabad Warpora Sopore, confessed their involvement in the burglary, police said.

On their disclosure, stolen property (sports items including cricket kits and bats) worth lakhs of rupees were recovered from different locations while a load-carrier (PB10FV-4078) used in the burglary has also been seized. Further investigation into the case is in progress.
