In a statement issued to Press, Senior Congress Leaders said the self-styled Congress District President of Pulwama Umer Jaan was an ordinary worker of the Party, who was at present neither PCC nor booth-level delegate.

Bhat termed Umer Jaan’s statement as baseless and misleading and said the latter was found involved in anti-party activities for quite some time. After sensing that the Party was going to initiate disciplinary action against him, he immediately resigned to save his skin, while making a false claim to be the Party District President, which is not correct.

Congress strongly refutes Umer Jaan’s claim in toto, at the same time, confirming that Fayaz Ahmad Dar is the approved President of the District Congress Committee, who has been DCC President for years.

We request that he (Jaan) should not be treated as Former District President of Congress, Senior Congress Leaders added.

Mohd Anwar Bhat also expressed surprise over Umer Jaan’s frivolous and fabricated criticism of Congress Leadership, terming it a failed attempt to hide anti-Congress activities he (Umer Jaan) was found involved in.
