Baramulla: A minor boy was killed after an iron gate fell on him in Khwajabagh area of Baramulla on Thursday.

Identified as 10-year-old Mohammad Ikraam Bhat, son of Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat of Hyder Mohalla Khawajabagh, the boy came under the gate while playing outside his home. His body was later taken to GMC Baramulla for post-mortem before being handed over to the family for last rites.

Locals alleged that the employees of a private company installing electric meters in the area had placed a ladder with the gate which caused it to flip over onto the boy playing nearby, killing him on the spot.

“It is negligence of the private company employees who were installing meters,” they alleged, adding that those responsible for the incident be held accountable.
