Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug-peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials said Tuesday.
They said a police party during patrolling at Badrah crossing on Baramulla-Handwara highway intercepted a suspicious person and recovered 32 grams of cannabis from his possession. Identified as Umar Reyaz Bhat, son of Reyaz Ah Bhat, resident of Kralgund, the peddler was arrested and shifted to police station.
At a checkpoint at Manzgam, one Nisar Ahmad Lone, son of Bashir Ahmed Lone of Chowkibal Kupwara was arrested after 20 grams of brown sugar were recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, police said.
