T-20 Cricket Tournaments conclude in Awantipora

Srinagar: The T-20 Cricket tournaments which was organised by Police in Awantipora under the Civic Action Program, concluded today with colorful closing ceremonies.
These tournaments were inaugurated by SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmed Zagar.
On the closing ceremony, DIG SKR Rayees Mohammad Bhat was Chief Guest, while the father of Shaheed SI Farooq Ahmad Abdul Gani was Guest of Honour besides, SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmed Zargar, C0 110Bn CRPF Yogesh Purohit, ADC Awantipora, DySP DAR Awantipora SDPO Pampore, SHO Pampore and other officers of Police, CRPF, attended the closing ceremony at Samboora Pampore.
In Samboora, the tournament was organised in memory of Shaheed SI Farooq Ahmad who joined the Police Department in 1998 and achieved martyrdom in a terrorist attack on 17/18th June 2022 at Samboora. It is important to mention that J&K Police stands by the families of martyrs and is at the forefront while paying tributes to them. The final match of the T20 cricket tournament was played between Chinar Valley Tral Vs Rising Star Allochibagh in which Chinar Valley Tral emerge as winners of the tournament.
In Tanchbagh Pampore, the final match of the T20 cricket tournament was played between Shining Star Pampore Vs Pampore kings in which Shining Star Pampore emerge as winners of the tournament.
These tournaments were played on a knock-out basis. Thirty-two teams (16 teams in each tournament) from different areas of Police District Awantipora participated in the tournament with great enthusiasm, passion, and valor.
While speaking on the closing ceremony, DIG SKR said that J&K Police has always been at the forefront in providing a platform to youth and guiding them in following their goals by organizing different events across J&K. He along with SSP Awantipora and other officers presented trophies to winning teams and runner up teams. The Winning and Runner-up teams in Samboora as well as Tanchbagh were awarded Trophies & Cash prizes of Rs. 25,000/- and Rs. 10,000/- respectively.
In Samboora, the Man of the Final award was given to Shahid Ahmad, and the man of the series award was given to Amir Rashid. In Tanchbagh, the Man of the Final and man of the series award was given to Abid Nabi.
SSP Awantipora thanked the cricket lovers & the participating teams for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm during the tournament. He also presented a trophy to DIG SKR Anantnag as a token of love and thanked him for gracing the closing ceremony of both events and for encouraging the youth towards sports activities.
