Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Thursday expressed concern over the treatment delays at Kashmir’s premier tertiary care hospital SKIMS.

Dismayed at the inordinate delay in scores of surgeries in SKIMS, Party’s State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, “t is really unfortunate that patients are made to wait for months to get their surgeries done. Reportedly due to delay in payments due to surgeries conducted under the auspices of the Ayushman card, the contractors have stopped supplying necessary equipment for scores of patients who are registered under the golden card scheme.”

“The situation should have been handled professionally but till now nothing substantial has been done by the government officials as doctors are helpless. Amidst all this, it’s the common people who are suffering. There are hundreds of poor patients whose treatment has been put on hold. Such carelessness has imperiled their lives. If anything happens to them, who is responsible?” Imran said.

Seeking immediate intervention of the LG into the matter, he sought immediate disbursement of outstanding dues of the contractors in order to make the supply chain function.

Meanwhile, Party President’s Political Secretary Advocate Showkat Ahmed Mir visited SKIMS on the directions of Dr. Farooq Abdullah. He took stock of the situation and assured the patients that the party will raise the matter at all appropriate forums.
