2 thieves and drug-peddler booked under PSA

Srinagar: Police have booked two notorious thieves and a drug peddler under Public Safety Act (PSA) after obtaining necessary sanctions from the authorities in Budgam and Baramulla, officials informed Thursday.

In Budgam, two habitual thieves — Azad Mukhtar, son of Mukhtar Ahmad Hajam, and Altaf Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, both residents of Hanjiveera Pattan, were detained under PSA by police for their unrelenting criminal acts of burglary and theft. The booked thieves have been lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu.

Police say they were involved in 14 cases of burglary and theft in different areas across Kashmir.

In Baramulla, notorious drug smuggler Rayees Ahmad Khan alias Nano Khan, son of Late Wazir Mohammad Khan of Trikanjan Boniyar, was booked under PSA, and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu.

Police say six cases are registered against him and he was involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Boniyar and other areas of Baramulla.
