SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today convened a meeting of officers to make arrangements for the forthcoming Holy Month of Ramzan and Navratra.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners; Divisional and District officers of PDD, R&B, PHE, Transport, and FCS&CA departments besides officers from Traffic Police.

While taking the stock of availability of essential items, Div Com instructed the Director Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) to ensure that a sufficient quantity of food grains, LPG, kerosene, and mutton is available to the general public during the month of fasting.

To keep prices of essential items including vegetables and fruits under control and to curb overcharging by traders, Div Com directed Deputy Commissioners and Director FCS&CA to double the number of joint market checking teams to intensify the drive against erring traders.

Besides, Div Com directed Chief Engineer PDD to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity at priority hours during Sehri & Iftar times to facilitate the public in the Holy Month of Ramzan ul Mubarak.

Also, directions were issued for ensuring a constant supply of drinking water and availability of transport till late hours in the evening time.

He also directed concerned officers to conduct sanitation drives of Mosques & Shrines besides decoration of shrines to create an environment of festivity.

While reviewing arrangements for the celebration of Navratra, Div Com also directed all the concerned officers to conduct sanitation at various temples including Shankaracharya, Hariparbat, Kheer Bhawani, and other temples in the valley besides directed for ensuring power and water supply at these temples for devotees.
