Public Relations Society of India, J&K chapter, braces up for launch ceremony

Jammu: The Public Relations Society of India, Jammu and Kashmir chapter organised a pre-launch meeting on Sunday at Press Club Jammu.

The meeting was organised to finalize the arrangements for the launch ceremony scheduled on March 19th 2023 at CSIR IIIM (RRL) Auditorium, which is to be graced by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Science & Technology, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances.

During the meeting, Dr. Anil Saumitra, Chairperson, PRSI J&K chapter, Regional Director IIMC Jammu, reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the launch ceremony. He informed that the event will be attended by Dr Ajit Pathak, National President, PRSI, and other prominent PR and media professionals from across the country.

“They are expected to arrive in Jammu on 18th March and pay obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji, Katra on the same day,” Dr Saumitra said.

“The launch of PRSI J&K chapter will be held on 19th March, followed by special lectures, panel discussion on ‘Government Communication and Public Relations’. The J&K chapter is being established under Public Relations Society of India, the national association of PR practitioners established in 1958 to promote the recognition of public relations as a profession and to formulate and interpret to the public the objectives and the potentialities of public relations as a strategic management function,” he added.

The meeting was attended by Sanjit Khajuria, Chairperson, Organising Committee PRSI, J&K chapter, Veteran Journalist & Ex Dy Director Doordarshan News Jammu, Executive Members Ramesh Kumar Raina, Dy Director News, Doordarshan News & All India Radio Jammu, Lt Col Devender Anand, PRO Defence Jammu, and Kailash Langar, Branch Head, Internals Advertising, Jammu.

The Committee Members Opender Sharma, Social Activist, Shaminder Sharma, Sant Kumar Sharma, Veteran Journalists, Dinesh Manhotra, General Secretary Press Club Jammu, media educators including Dr. Archana Kumari, Secretary PRSI J&K chapter, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication & New Media, Central University Jammu, Dr. Pardeep Singh Bali, Treasurer, PRSI J&K chapter, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Studies, University of Jammu, Dr. Ravia Gupta, Organising Secretary, PRSI J&K chapter, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Studies, University of Jammu also attended the meeting. 

Pertinent to mention that the chapter executive body also includes Dr. Monisa Qadiri, Senior Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at IUST, Awantipora as its Joint Secretary.

Besides, the members of PRSI including media persons Inderjeet Singh, Founder, Sampark North Agency, Dr. Mitali Gupta, Nutritionist, Narinder Panotra from SKUAST Jammu, Vijay Bajaj from AIR Jammu, Harry Walia, Prof. Bharti Gupta, Department of Travel and Tourism Management, Central University of Jammu, and media students from IIMC Jammu, and Department of Journalism and Mass Studies, University of Jammu, participated in the meeting.
