Srinagar: National Conference (NC) president and former chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah Friday said except Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), all mainstream political parties have been invited to attend an all-party meeting being held at his Gupkar residence here Saturday.

The NC leader said the meeting is aimed at discussing some important issues including the ongoing demolition drive, property tax and contract for holding JKSSB written exams to Aptech Ltd.

He said that every issue would be thoroughly discussed, and that any eventual solution would be revealed in the appropriate manner during a news conference later.

Replying to a query as to how many parties are expected to attend the meeting and whether the invitation has also been extended to the BJP, Abdullah said except BJP, every mainstream political party has been invited to attend the meeting.

“We have convened an all-party meeting tomorrow to solicit suggestions, discuss and finalize strategies vis-à-vis the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Except for BJP, all mainstream political parties have been invited to attend the meeting but I don’t know who will attend it. Whoever Allah guides will attend the meeting,” Farooq told reporters after Friday congregational prayers at Hazratbal shrine, a day after he returned from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah.

Regarding the contract awarded by the JKSSB to Aptech Ltd for conducting computer-based tests for various jobs, the NC leader said he will argue the matter during the all-party meeting tomorrow.

The NC leader also said that during his Umrah, he prayed for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir, which he claimed is cornered by problems, lethal diseases, immorality, and drug abuse.

“I seek forgiveness and blessings from Allah to guide us through the right path. I also prayed to Allah to guide everyone to the right path and bring peace to our state and ease our burdens as we are caught in trouble. There is destruction everywhere while unemployment, immorality, and deadly diseases and drug abuse have cornered us badly,” he added.
