Dir Horti Kashmir visits departmental nurseries at Pulwama, Shopian

SRINAGAR: The Director Horticulture Kashmir, G.R. Mir, today toured District Pulwama and participated in a series of events.

At the outset of the programme, the Director Horticulture visited Akhoo, Kakpora Pulwama where he kick-started High-Density Plantation. He then paid a visit to the village Pingalgam, Pulwama where he launched a plantation drive under the Area Expansion Scheme (Medium-Density) of the department.

He also participated in an awareness programme at Chief Horticulture Officer’s Office Pulwama.

Besides, a large number of farmers, the camp was also attended by officers/officials from the Department of Horticulture.

During the camp, attendees were provided with immediate information about the beneficiary-oriented and self-employment schemes offered by the Horticulture Department.

In his address, the Director Horticulture stressed the need for field functionaries to maintain close contact with farmers, to help/resolve any issues they may have regarding orchard management. He also made a visit to the newly established walnut Nursery under CAPEX at Trisal Pulwama.

Later, the Director of Horticulture made a visit to the Shopian district, where he visited another newly established walnut Nursery under CAPEX at Zainapora.

He then attended an awareness programme organized by the department of Horticulture Shopian.

The programme was attended by a good number of farmers. Block Development Council Chairman, Shopian, Ajaz Ahmad Mir also attended the programme.

The Department imparted knowledge to the attendees about its beneficiary-centred and self-employment programs during the awareness camp.

In his address, the Director Horticulture highlighted the need for field personnel to maintain a close and strong connection with farmers to help them regarding any concerns they may have about orchard management.
