DC Sgr reviews 6.50 Cr project for dev of Khankah-I-Naqshband Sahib (RA) on heritage pattern

SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Saturday undertook a visit to Khankah Naqashband Sahib(RA) to finalise the detailed project report for restoration, revival, preservation, and maintenance of Architecture and Heritage of Religious Places/Assets in the District.

The Deputy Commissioner visited Khankahi Naqashband Sahib(RA) in the Nowhatta area of Shahr-e-Khaas of the District and took stock of the measure being taken for the development of 500 years old Historic Khankahi Naqashband Sahib (RA), one of the finest examples of Kashmiri ancient and medieval wooden architecture.

On the occasion, the DC was informed that a detailed Project Report of Rs 6.50 crore has been prepared for the beautification and renovation of the Khankah.

The DC directed the concerned to take up the measure for physical works so that all works proposed in DPR are completed at the earliest. He also for speeding up the process of land acquisition undertaken to expand the Khankah compound.

 The DC further asked them to construct a washroom at the shrine premises and an ornamental grill around the Khankah of Naqashband Sahib(RA).

While interacting with the local members of the Khankah, the DC assured them that all possible measures will be taken to further beautify the Khankah of Naqashband Sahib(RA) on heritage pattern and upgrade the facilities for the convenience of the devotees.

Besides, Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, the Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Executive Engineers of R&B, officers of Archives, Tourism, and other concerned Departments.
