DC inaugurates two professional cricket pitches at GDC Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav, today inaugurated two professional cricket pitches, one turf, and another cemented developed here in Government Degree College Ground.

Guest of Honours Principal GDC Kishtwar Dr. Jyoti Parihar & EXEN R&B Ravinder Kumar were also present.

Both these cricket pitches have been constructed by District Administration under District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) under the supervision of the District Youth Services & Sports Department Kishtwar and executed by R&B Department Kishtwar.

At the outset, a warm welcome was accorded to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honors by the District Youth Service & Sports Officer   Kharati Lal Sharma and sports employees.

Among others the students and staff of GDC Kishtwar, R&B staff remained present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that district Kishtwar has great potential for sports and the establishment of these Sports facilities will provide an opportunity for aspiring sportspersons to hone their talent.

He announced that as many as 50 such turf pitches, besides indoor stadiums, are to be established across the district by the end of this year. “These facilities will be instrumental to exploit the sport’s potential of Youth in hilly areas as well where enough sports grounds are not available,” he added.

While mentioning the names of women cricketers of India, he said that every student irrespective of gender can take part in games and achieve excellence, name, and fame provided he or she is given the proper coaching and professional training at right time, right place by Right Professionals which can help them to go the extra mile in the sports field.

The Deputy Commissioner also encouraged the sports aspirants of Kishtwar to take part in the upcoming “Cricket Trial and Guidance programme” to be held on 19th & 20th February 2023 at Kishtwar by district administration wherein the Ranji Players and professional coach from the state will share their experiences and the helpful tips with the participating cricket aspirants.

He appreciated the efforts of the Sports Department Kishtwar, the R&B Department, and the cooperation of Principal GDC Kishtwar in the completion of the twin cricket pitches in a time-bound manner.

Concluding the programme, DYSSO Kishtwar in his speech congratulated all the Cricketers and advised them to improve their game and practice continuously.

While complementing the efforts of the staff of the Sports Department and R&B Department, DYSSO Kishtwar said that their dedication is greatly appreciable.

Earlier, the DYSSO, in his welcome speech thanked the District Administration of Kishtwar for taking such initiatives which will help the youth of Kishtwar to showcase their talent in the field of cricket and other sports activities.
