6 drug peddlers held with contraband substances

Srinagar: Police on Saturday informed that it has arrested six drug peddlers in Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Sharing details, a police spokesman said police intercepted a car (JK02CR-6104) at Wagub Crossing. During the search, 6.70 grams of heroine was recovered from the possession of Zahoor Ahmad Malik, son of Sonaullah Malik of Wadipora Handwara; Towseef Ahmad Lone, son of Muhammad Sultan Lone of Sidhra Jammu, and Kamran Mushtaq Lone, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Lone of Maloora HMT Srinagar, who were travelling in this car. They have been arrested and the vehicle seized.

In Shopian, police arrested a drug-peddler — Mohammad Asif Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir of Hergam alongwith 480 grams of cannabis powder

In Kulgam, one Muzaffar Ahmad Nengroo, son of Ghulam Mohammad Nengroo of Badroo, was arrested at a checkpoint at Humshalibugh with 2.5 Kgs of marijuana (ganja) and 270 grams of cannabis.

Yawer Ahmad Ganie, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie of Tengjan was arrested at Kanjikulla Crossing along with two Kgs of marijuana and 100 grams of cannabis.

Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, police informed.
