IGNOU introduces Kashmiri language at undergraduate level

Srinagar: The Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) has introduced a plethora of new distance learning programmes for the January 2023 admission cycle. 

The School of Humanities, IGNOU has launched a new programme B.A. in Applied Urdu (BAAUD) in addition to the already existing programme of Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Urdu (BAUDH), which will be offered from the January 2023 admission session.

The eligibility criteria for the programme is 12th and the minimum and maximum duration of the programme is 3 and 6 years respectively. 

The other new UG and PG programmes have been added to the list include BA Gender Studies, 3 new PG programmes in Journalism, 4 new PG programmes in Management, MA in Environmental Studies, MA in Russian, MA in French, PG diploma in Geo-informatics, PG diploma in Environmental Management and Law, PG diploma in Early Childhood and Foundation Stage Education, etc. 

In addition to these newly launched programmes, the university offers almost 300 programmes in various other disciplines at the UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma, Certificate, PG Certificate, Appreciation and Awareness Level programmes and over 40 online programmes.

While highlighting the unique features of the IGNOU Programmes, Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmad Dar, Regional Director IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar said that the programmes are in compliance with the requirements of NEP 2020 in terms of quality, accessibility, equity and affordability. 

Flexible entry and exit, modular programme design and multiple entry-exit option with credit transfer facility, CBCS, affordable fees, multimedia-based teaching learning using all latest technologies and satellite-based study options, presence of Learner Support Centers PAN India and learners can pursue their programmes at their convenience.

It is for the information of the public that the last date of fresh admission and for re-registration for all the programmes offered in ODL/Online mode by IGNOU for January 2023 session has been extended till 10th March 2023. The prospective students can refer to the e-prospectus 2023 of IGNOU for the complete details regarding all the programmes. 

The e-Prospectus is available on the website of IGNOU (www.ignou.ac.in) and of the Regional Centre Srinagar (www.rcsrinagar.ignou.ac.in). The applicants interested to enroll in the programme can access the admission portal of the university at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

Learners can also take advantage of the IGNOU programmes, keeping in view the two notifications issued by the UGC, one regarding pursuing a dual degree under which a candidate can pursue two degrees at a time and the other regarding the ‘equivalence of degree obtained through Open Distance Learning and Online mode with degree obtained through conventional mode’, informed the Regional Director.
