Similar congregations were held at several other shrines in the Valley including Jenab Sahab Soura, Asar Sharif Kalashpora, the shrine of Syed Sahab-Sonwar, Jama Masjid Nowhatta, Dastgeer Sahib shrines at Khanyar and Sarai Payeen, Asar-e- Sharif Lal Bazar and Makhama-Beerwah.

Various government agencies as well as some private groups had made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of devotees at Hazratbal. Roads and streets leading to the shrine were decorated and markets in Hazratbal wore a festive look with vendors doing brisk business.

Hundreds of private and SRTC vehicles ferried the devotees. Besides transport, arrangements for power, drinking water, medical aid camps and sanitation were also made for the convenience of devotees.

“A record number of more than 1,50,000 devotees paid obeisance in Friday afternoon prayers at Hazratbal Dargah on the occasion of ‘Friday following Shab-e-Meraj’,” Kashmir Police tweeted.
