Agriculture Deptt holds training prog on dev of fodder resources

SRINAGAR: The Agriculture Department Kashmir today held a training programme on the development of fodder resources under holistic development of agriculture in the UT of J&K.

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Agriculture (inputs) Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Bhat highlighted the importance of fodder crops to the overall development of the agriculture sector. He said because of the varied agro-climatic and soil conditions there is enormous potential for the cultivation of fodder crops and the development of fodder resources in the region.

He said that the department has already taken many initiatives for the promotion of fodder cultivation in different districts of Kashmir wherein the latest technologies in this field are made available to the concerned farmers.

The Joint Director said that under the holistic document, special focus has been shifted towards fodder cultivation. He asked the participants to ensure maximum awareness of various programmes among the farmers so that the said targets under different programmes could be achieved.

He asked the concerned officers of allied departments to work in coordination for the successful implementation of projects under the holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors.

Threadbare discussions were also held on various aspects of today’s training programme and various ideas and suggestions were put forward by the participants from the allied departments.

Besides, Joint Director Apiculture and Mushroom, Tabssum Naz; Senior Officers of agriculture and allied departments were present in the training programme.
