Srinagar: Police on Saturday said it has arrested seven persons for their involvement in poisoning a fish farm in Pulwama.

A police spokesman informed that on February 13, Police Post Lassipora received a written complaint from one Manzoor Ahmad Mir of Bathnoor Shahoora stating that some unknown persons have mixed some poisonous substance in water due to which thousands of fish died in his fish farm at Bathnoor area in Litter Pulwama.

A case was registered, and during the investigation, police zeroed in on some suspects. During questioning, it was found that seven persons had bleaching powder for catching fish at a canal, which also fed the said fish farm resulting in killing the fish there. Subsequently, all the seven accused persons were arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody, police said.
