District officials were also apprised about the procedure of document updates in Aadhaar.

In the workshop, Aadhaar operators were educated about the procedure to update the documents of Aadhaar holders as per the latest guidelines issued by UIDAI. Aadhaar holders can update their unique ID records by uploading supportive documents either online through the myAadhaar portal or offline by visiting the nearest Aadhaar center.

Aadhaar holders can update their unique ID records by uploading supportive documents (proof of identity and proof of address) either online through the myAadhaar portal or offline by visiting the nearest Aadhaar center, UIDAI said in a statement.

“Residents who had got their Aadhaar issued 10 years back, and have never updated after that in these years, such Aadhaar number holders are encouraged to get their documents updated,” the statement said.

During the past decade, the Aadhaar number has emerged as a universally accepted proof of the identity of residents. A large number of Central and State Government schemes use Aadhaar for authentication and it is important that people have their documents and mobile number updated in Aadhaar.

As per UIDAI, there are more than 1100 Aadhaar centers functional in J&K and residents can visit the nearest Aadhaar center in Block Offices, Schools, Tehsil Offices, Banks, and Post Offices. Residents can also visit Aadhaar Seva Kendra located in Srinagar and Jammu.
