BARAMULLA: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited seed multiplication farm (SMF) Tapper, Kreeri.

On the occasion, Iqbal took stock of agriculture activities related to various rabi crops (including carrot, turnip, Methi, etc.) and preparations for the distribution of seedlings of different vegetable crops (including Hybrid knol-khol, cabbage, cauliflower, bottle gourd, cucumber, bitter gourd, Squash, tomato, and brinjal) for commercial purposes.

The Director visited different blocks and poly houses at the farm and held discussions with concerned officers and technical experts.

He while speaking on the occasion asked the concerned officers of the farm to ensure that sufficient quantities of seedlings of different agricultural crops are made available to the farmers of the area well in time.

He highlighted the importance of introducing new varieties of different agricultural crops (with more production and productivity) at the farm and helping farmers of the area to get acquainted with the benefits of introducing such varieties.

Director Agriculture also discussed some innovative ideas regarding the cultivation of different crops with the officers and technical experts of the farm. He asked the concerned officers to adopt the latest technologies during the cultivation of different crops so that the same could be replicated at the farmers’ field in a comprehensive manner.

Earlier, Farm Manager S.M. Farm Tapper Charan Gurdev Singh gave a detailed presentation of various agriculture activities at the farm.
