DC Bla inaugurates first-of-its-kind Drug De-addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre

BARAMULLA: In a significant move to provide the necessary counseling and the subsequent rehabilitation measures to the drug victims, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, today inaugurated the first of its kind Drug De-addiction cum Rehabilitation center established at Primary Health Centre Singhpora.

The center, which is fully equipped with all required necessities and developed from the existing resources by the District Administration, shall provide proper treatment to the identified victims through a variety of counseling modules besides providing recreational and amusement amenities.

After inaugurating the center, the DC inspected different sections and took a first-hand appraisal of facilities and amenities that have been facilitated in the center. She emphasized upon the concerned authorities to ensure that the best treatment facilities are provided through this center so that result-oriented outcomes are achieved.

Dr Syed Sehrish said that the center will be a milestone towards gender equality and empowerment as separate counseling facilities for females have been made available. She added that it was the need of the hour to establish Drug De-addiction & Rehabilitation Centre as it will facilitate the persons involved in drug addiction to get rid of this menace so that they can live a healthy, social, and dignified life.

Reiterating upon its commitment to curb drug trafficking, the DC said that stringent measures are being taken to nip the menace from the bud and assured every possible action to dismantle the nexus of drug trafficking and peddling. She also urged the concerned stakeholders to play their part in its complete eradication.
