Gurez: The river Kishanganga was again blocked while the water supply got affected after avalanches struck three Tulail villages of Gurez Tehsil in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, officials said here on Friday.

The multiple avalanches, as per the officials, hit Wizirthal, Gugran, and Neeru villages of Tulail in Gurez and affected the water supply, besides blocking the water flow of river Kishanganga

However, there were no reports of any casualties in the avalanches, the officials said.

“We will try our best to restore the water supply as soon as possible in the area,” the officials told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, adding that other teams from the administration have already assessed the situation in these areas following these avalanches

Considering the area as prone to avalanches due to the mountainous terrain, the authorities had advised people to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Notably, Gurez has so far witnessed 10 avalanches in the last two weeks.
