Srinagar: Police on Monday said it has arrested a drug-peddler in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party intercepted a suspicious person at a checkpoint at Namblabal-Kadlabal crossing near MeI School. During the search, 105 grams of ‘charas’ (cannabis) wrapped in maize husk was recovered from his possession.
Identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar alias Tiger Kala, son of Abdul Khaliq Dar of Aram Mohalla Namblabal, the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station while as case (FIR No. 7/2023) under relevant sections of laws stands registered at Police Station Pampore for further investigation, police said.
