Srinagar: Police on Saturday said it has arrested two drug-peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in Budgam.
A police party intercepted a vehicle (JK04A-8236) at a checkpoint established at Tagnar Chadoora , and recovered 176.2 kgs of poppy straw concealed in five nylon bags from it. The two persons on board this vehicle — Showkat Ahmad Yatoo alias Shola, son of Abdul Aziz Yatoo of Hayatpora Chadoora, and Farooq Ahmad Sheikh alias Jana, son of Abdul Majeed Sheikh of Tangnar Chadoora – were arrested and shifted to police station. The vehicle has also been seized, police said in a statement.
It said a case (FIR no. 209/2022) under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and further investigation initiated.
