JKTPO sponsors over 30 exhibitors at Punjab Int’l Trade Expo Amritsar

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) participated in the 16th edition of Punjab International Trade Expo (PITEX), held from the 8th to 12th of December 2022 at Amritsar, Punjab, a flagship B2B and B2C event.

The pavilion setup by JKTPO showcasing the UT’s Culture, Heritage, Handloom, and Handicrafts besides Agricultural products was one of the biggest attractions at the PITEX which received a huge rush of visitors. PITEX, which brought together industry, trade, and business from all over the country and abroad as well, worked as a catalyst for economic growth in the country. The J&K exhibitors displayed and promoted the uniqueness and strength of J&K among National and International visitors.

More than 30 exhibitors including women entrepreneurs from Hausla, NGOs, and Societies along with departments and corporations of the J&K government exhibited a unique and wide range of products during the event. The products exhibited included Pashmina shawl from Kashmir, Kani shawls, Sozni work, Handicrafts from Jammu and Kashmir region, Walnut, Kishtwari, and Kashmiri Saffron, Honey, and Rajmash from Doda and Kishtwar, modern textiles, toys, and accessories.

A special feature of the JKTPO pavilion was the presence of women entrepreneurs and societies comprising specially abled. Media interaction with Hausla Women Entrepreneurs of J&K was organized in which women entrepreneur of J&K shared their experience with the media. Hausla women also shared their entrepreneurial journey, and their experiences and were briefed about the support they are getting from the present government of UT of J&K to make their business more progressive and sustainable.

The event has provided an excellent platform to the budding and established entrepreneurs of J&K in terms of improved product visibility, retail sales, the opportunity for synergetic collaborations through fruitful meets conducted with national and international visitors/buyers, market and competitor knowledge, and insights into best practices of business. A huge response in terms of business leads was generated which when converted into orders will result in good business for them in the future.

MD, JKTPO, Khalid Jahangir, observed that showcasing unique products of Jammu and Kashmir in such kind of events helps to improve the overall business ecosystem of J&K. He stressed on the importance of promoting authentic quality products from J&K at national and international level events ensuring forward market linkages.

He informed that JKTPO under the aegis of the Department of Industries and Commerce is providing both physical and e-commerce marketing platforms to entrepreneurs of J&K. Initiatives like participation in MSME Expo, GI Fair, India International Trade Fair, IHGF Fair, Agrotech Fair, onboarding drives on ONDC platform, Walmart vriddhi, Flipkart and proposed onboarding drives on GeM are few to mention.
