VC SKUAST inaugurates 15-day foundation cum orientation prog IRTIQA

SRINAGAR: Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Kashmir, Professor Nazir Ahmad Ganai, today inaugurated a fifteen-day long foundation cum orientation programme IRTIQA at SKUAST, Kashmir.

Commissioner Secretary, Science & Technology, Saurabh Bhagat, was the guest of honour on the occasion.

The programme was aimed at introducing the students to the university system of professional education involving 700 newly admitted students to various faculties under SKUAST-K for different professional degree programmes.

IRTIQA is an amalgamation of orientation, motivation, culture, entrepreneurship and soft skill development course for the incoming students of the university. Further motivational speakers, celebrities and members of civil society are to take part, deliver motivational talks and perform in the orientation programme during the next 15 days.

Addressing a gathering of University officers, scientists and students, Vice-Chancellor said that the motive behind holding such programmes is to give students a platform to showcase and harness their hidden talents.

“We are the 6th best Agricultural University in the country and time is not far away when we will be the topper,” Prof Ganai said adding that due to the strenuous efforts of our officers and scientists, we are the leaders in implementing the New Education Policy 2020 that will be a torch bearer for rest of agricultural universities.

He lauded the efforts of Dean Students Welfare and his team for organizing such student-specific programmes.

Commissioner Secretary, while speaking on the occasion, recalled his university days and exhorted upon the students to use their knowledge and skills for national development.

Earlier, Dean Students Welfare, Professor M A A Siddiqui, gave a detailed account of the fifteen days orientation programme.

During the programme, students from Horticulture Faculty presented cultural programmes besides the famous Rap kid, Arafaat and the radio host and entertainer RJ Vijdhan also performed on the occasion.
