Srinagar: Authorities on Sunday ‘sealed’ Samci restaurant at the Residency Road here on the directions of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir for allegedly violating High Court orders.

The move comes after the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir issued directions to the Tehsildar South, and SHO Kothibagh Police Station to implement the court order and register an FIR in case of any violation.

The Division Bench of the Srinagar wing of Jammu and Kashmir High Court while disposing of the appeal had on November 03 directed the parties not to operate the restaurant till the time license is granted to the rightful owner by the competent authority.

“Till the time the license is granted in favor of the rightful party by the competent authority, the Samci Restaurant shall not be operated/run by any of the party,” reads the Division Bench order.

It may be in place to mention here that the restaurant situated at posh Residency Road till the time of its sealing was being run without any food license as mandated by the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

When contacted Tehsildar South, Moin Azhar Kakroo told ‘Kashmir Images ‘that the restaurant was officially sealed at the directions of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir. He said the move comes following reports of violations.

“As per the directions of the Hon’ble High Court and the Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Srinagar and Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, the Samci Restaurant was sealed, but on November 22, 2022, it is said that one of the parties broke the seal and again started operations of the restaurant. Necessary photographs of the sealing are attached herewith,” reads the Div-Com’s order, adding accordingly Tehsildar South and SHO Kothibagh are directed to jointly implement the order, register an FIR if the seal has been broken, and ensure the court directions are implemented in letter and spirit.
