Director Horti Kashmir visits Kupwara; convenes review meeting

SRINAGAR: The Director Horticulture Kashmir, G. R. Mir today toured district Kupwara and visited Panchayat halqa Chanigam-A, where he was Visiting Officer during the Back to Village Four (B2V4) programme and has now been designated as Prabhari Officer for a period of one year.

At the outset, the Director held a review/ follow-up meeting that was attended by PRI members and representatives of line departments.

During the meeting, Director reviewed the progress made during the last month with a special focus on the assigned deliverables like Golden Health Cards, land passbooks, KCC, Soil Health Cards, Self-Employment Schemes, identification of youth for skill training under Himayat, etc.

Some issues confronting the panchayat Ghar like the availability of drinking water and electric supply were resolved on spot besides resolving some other issues of public importance. It was informed that the progress shall be reviewed again the next month.

Later, the Director attended an awareness camp organized by the Department of Horticulture Kupwara at Sogam.

The camp was attended by the Chief Horticulture Officer, Kupwara, District Horticulture Officer Kupwara, and other officers of the department besides representatives of PRIs and a good number of farmers.

On-the-spot awareness was given about the beneficiary-oriented and self-employment schemes of the Horticulture Department. 

Director stressed on the field functionaries to remain in close touch with the farmers for the resolution of the issues confronting them with regard to the management of their orchards. He assured the farmers of providing them with all possible assistance as per the norms prescribed under various departmental schemes.
