Quality inputs, fertilizers, play important role in successful crop cultivation: Dir Agri Kmr

SRINAGAR: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, today chaired a meeting of organic/bio-fertilizer companies at Agriculture Complex Lalmandi here.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Controller Fertilizer J&K Mohammad Sayeed Peer, Deputy Director Law Enforcement Srinagar, Assistant Director Law Enforcement Srinagar, District Law Enforcement Officer south/north, representatives of organic/bio fertilizers companies, representatives of Ms. IFCL, IFFCO, NFL, IPL, KRIBHCO, and other concerned stakeholders.

During the meeting, various issues related to the smooth supply of fertilizers during the rabi 2022-23 were discussed threadbare.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director highlighted the importance of a smooth and timely supply of fertilizers to the farmers of the region. He further exhorted upon the fertilizer supplying companies and officers of the department to liquidate all pending stocks held in POS machines.

Director marked the importance of quality inputs especially fertilizers for the successful agriculture season in the UT. He asked the stakeholders to work in close coordination and ensure to put in all the efforts to secure the farmers’ economic interests.

He directed the enforcement officers to initiate strict action according to the law against the retailers if found selling fertilizer and other inputs without following the set guidelines.

Iqbal said any substandard/spurious fertilizers if found should be immediately seized and the warranted action as per law against the erring parties should be initiated.
