Srinagar: Police in Budgam today claimed to have solved a hit-and-run case by arresting three persons including the driver and the owner of the vehicle.

On December 01, Ubaid Shafi, son of Mohammad Shafi Aakhoon of Namblabal Pampore and Huzaib Ahmad Yatoo, son of Tariq Ahmad Yatoo of Nagam Chadoora were injured when their scooty (JK04G-6003) was hit by a tipper (JK04A-6869) at Hardpora Chadoora. It said a case vide (FIR No. 195/2022) under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Chadoora and both scooty and the tipper were seized.

Police said subsequently one Feroz Ahmed Sheikh, son of Mohammad Abdullah Sheikh of Gopalpora Wathora, came to Police Station Chadoora claiming that he was driving the tipper at the time of the incident. However, during questioning, it was revealed that the actual driver of the tipper at the time of the incident was Zahid Ahmed Gojri, son of Abdul Rashid Gojri of Rawalpora Srinagar, who doesn’t possess even a driving license.

Both the actual and the impersonating drivers as well as the owner of the tipper have been arrested. The owner Abdul Rashid Gojri has been arrested for allowing his son to drive the vehicle even when he did not have a valid driving licence, police said.
