Protests rock SKUAST, Wadoora over sexual harassment
Erring Professor suspended pending enquiry
Srinagar: Massive protests were going on inside SKUAST campus Wadoora following a girl student alleged that she was sexually harassed by a faculty member.
On Thursday, a girl student (name withheld) of SKUAST, Wadoora alleged that she was sexually harassed by the faculty member. Following her complaint, a case was registered with the nearest police station and police has started the investigation, sources said.
Massive protests started within the campus with protestors demanding stern action against the accused faculty member. The family of the victim too have joined the protests, sources said.
Meanwhile, Registrar, SKUAST, Wagoora, Prof T H Masoodi, in an order issued on Dec 02, 2022 said that pending enquiry into the matter of alleged misconduct of Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, Prof. and Head Division of Agriculture, Extension and Communication faculty, Agricultural Wadoora is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect.
“He shall remain attached with KDK Pombai, Kulgam,” the order said.
Consequent upon above, the charge of Head, Division of Agri Extension & Communication shall remain with Dean, faculty of Agriculture Wadoora, till further orders, reads the order.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Syed SehrishAsgar tweeted, “Action taken. Accused has been suspended pending enquiry. FIR lodged by Police.”
