Srinagar: Police in Budgam today arrested a person for allegedly killing his wife, police spokesman informed.
He said, yesterday Police Station Budgam received information about the suspicious death of one 36-years-old Muslima, wife of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Nasrullapora Budgam.
Police while examining the dead body found visible ligature marks on the victim’s neck, following which the dead-body was taken over and sent for legal formalities.
Post-mortem of the dead-body conducted today at GMC Srinagar in presence of Magistrate, revealed that she had been strangulated to death.
Her husband Ghulam Mohammad Bhat was taken into custody and during sustained questioning he admitted to have killed his wife by strangulation, following which a case (FIR No. 393/2022) under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation initiated.
Pertinently, the deceased woman belonged to Kolkata and had been married with the accused just 20 days ago, police said.
