JKAACL presents “Jashn-e-Jammu Kashmir” at 25th NCeG in SMVDU Katra

KATRA: On the eve of the 25th National conference on e-Governance (NCeG), the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) has successfully exhibited the cultural diversity of Jammu & Kashmir “Jashn-e-Jammu Kashmir” at SMVDU Katra.

Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. V Srinivas, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG); Amarnath, Additional Secretary DARPG; NBS Rajput, Joint Secretary DARPG; Prerna Puri, Commissioner Secretary IT Department were among key administrative officials from the J&K UT administration were present on the occasion. The event witnessed more than 1600 delegates from across the country.

A troupe of around 120 folk artists from across Jammu & Kashmir performed at the event to exhibit the indigenous culture of the regions. The programme aspired to exhibit the cultural ethos of Jammu & Kashmir.

The key highlight of the event was the spellbinding performances of the artists. The first segment began with a brief history of the Jammu region. The narrators succinctly informed the audience about important places in-and-around Jammu city. While the narrators recited, the video glimpses of all the places were displayed in the big LED backdrop. Further, a few folk presentations of the region like Bakh, Karkaan, Geetru, Jagarna, etc. were performed.

Post the first segment, the narrators described the Rajouri and Poonch regions of the Jammu division. In this segment too, a video glimpse of significant places in both regions were displayed. The Gojri and Pahari folk traditions were presented by folk artists.

The third segment drove the audience from Poonch to Bhaderwah, both visually and audibly. The visuals consisted of scenic landscapes of Bhadarwah and a few important places.

After the third segment, the fourth segment took the audience to Kishtwar, in this section the folk culture and scenic landscape of Kishtwar were presented to the audience.

The narrators, then, recited the unparalleled beauty of Kashmir at the outset of the final segment. The Kashmiri folk songs were displayed. The final segment was concluded with a conglomerative performance, in this, all the artists jointly participate and exude the spirit of the unparalleled cultural ethos of Jammu & Kashmir.

The Cultural Academy’s effort in promoting cross-cultural sensitivities is receiving laud from the art and culture connoisseurs of the region.
