Banihal: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Vikar Rasool Wani Thursday hit out at Central & State Govt for “ignoring Congress strongholds in Jammu and Kashmir aiming to settle political scores and punish people for rejecting BJP”.

He was, according to the NC spokesperson, addressing the Party workers’ convention in the Neil area of Banihal.

Senior Party leaders, DCC President, DDC, BDC Members, Block Presidents, Sarpanchs, and prominent Party workers were present.

Addressing the convention, JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani expressed serious concern over the “indifferent attitude towards Congress strongholds in Chenab Valley and elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir and slammed Central and State Govt for deliberately stalling important developmental projects aiming to settle political scores with Congress”.

“BJP’s move to delay & put on hold developmental activities is highly deplorable amounting to punishing people for rejecting it (BJP), at the same time JKPCC President expressed confidence that they (People) will continue to support and strengthen Congress Party, for the fact it has served and empowered them (people) equally, without any discrimination,” said Wani.

Expressing serious concern over the difficulties confronting people on account of development at the grassroots level, Wani said, “Chamalwas Neil Road has not been taken for construction despite people’s demand/requirement and demanded that this important road must be taken up for construction under PMGSY ensure connectivity between Chamalwas and Neil and other adjacent villages and also demanded upgradation of new Type PHC, which has been completed long before, but was not made functional so far for the reason known to concerned authorities.”

Wani also strongly demanded sanctioning of Degree College in Neil and said in 2014 CD Block was approved but till date it was not made functional. He also demanded sanctioning of higher secondary Schools in Terhinder Neil to ensure that children of this area and adjacent villages are able to get an education which is their basic right and cannot be denied.

PCC President also highlighted the staff requirement at Nayabat to ensure that revenue-related issues of people are addressed, without any further delay, as they have already suffered immensely in absence of required Staff.

JKPCC President questioned the delay in the execution of developmental projects and said the delay caused deliberately won’t change the reality as the people have resolved to give a befitting reply to BJP for betraying and failing them on all fronts.

On this occasion, Wani urged the party workers to highlight the issues concerning people in their respective areas and fight for their immediate resolution.

“Congress won’t be cowed down by challenges and misleading politics on the part of the BJP, it will fight for equal rights and justice to people,” JKPCC President added.
