SRINAGAR: A team of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today recovered a penal sum of Rs 15100 from 14 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 during a drive held here.

Besides, two mutton shops were also sealed and a complaint against two vegetable sellers was lodged at concerned Police stations on the occasion.

The action against the erring was taken following complaints from various corners regarding overcharging on essential commodities and during the course of action in district Srinagar, 71 business establishments were inspected.

It is worth mentioning here that during the current financial year an amount of Rs. 7450630 has been collected as a fine from 15973 erring traders. Besides, 201 establishments have been sealed and police complaints against 14 erring traders also stand lodged.

Moreover, the erring lot has been reprimanded to remain careful in the future. The drive will continue in the same passion in the future as well & whosoever is found violating the norms will be brought to justice.
