JAMMU: Secretary Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar, today reviewed the implementation of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for an increase in MBBS and PG seats in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Principal Government Medical College, Jammu and Srinagar, Director Medical Colleges J&K, Director Finance H&ME, Joint Director Planning, H&ME, and other senior officers of the department.
Director Medical Colleges presented a brief account of the MBBS and PG seats increased in Medical Colleges, their status of implementation, and the focus of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on early completion of projects and submission of Utilization Certificates.
Principal GMC, Srinagar, informed that the works related to increasing 30 MBBS seats are in progress while for 19 PG seats the funds shall be released by the Union Ministry after the MOU is signed and submitted.
Similarly, Principal GMC Jammu gave a brief about the implementation of projects related to increasing 50 MBBS seats besides informing that the DPR for 25 additional PG seats stands submitted to the Ministry.
Secretary gave directions for early completion of the ongoing works in both the Colleges for MBBS and PG seats.
He asked the Principal GMC Srinagar to ensure submission of the MOU besides directing the Principal Medical College Jammu for sending DPR to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Secretary also asked the Principals of GMC Jammu and Srinagar to explore the possibility of getting additional PG seats in their respective Colleges.
