Two thieves held in Awantipora, 2 cases solved: Police

Srinagar: Police in Awantipora on Monday claimed to have solved two cases of burglary by arresting two accused persons, and recovering stolen property worth lakhs from their possession.

Investigating cases of theft at two residential houses at Ladhoo and Khrew areas, police zeroed in on two accused and arrested them, police spokesman said in a statement.

He identified the accused as Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat, son of Wali Mohammad Bhat of Mughal Bagh Wanpoh Anantnag, and Tariq Ahmad Dar, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, resident of Banghdar Anantnag.

On their disclosure, the police recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs eight lakhs from their possession, the spokesman said.
