“During the course of investigation, it surfaced that the accused is minor and did not possess a valid driving licence. So, police today arrested the father of the juvenile accused — Nazir Ahmad Hajam, son of Ali Mohammad Hajam of Hakermullah Budgam — under relevant sections of law for allowing his minor son to drive the vehicle,” police said in a statement.

“Police once again request parents to not allow minors as well as the persons who do not possess valid driving licenses to drive, for it endangers lives of people,” a police spokesman said in the statement.
