“Preliminary investigation revealed that terrorist had fired upon two outside labourers, working at a private School (SAPS) at Wanihama area of Anantnag. They have been identified as Bekuu Ram resident of Bihar & Tej Bahadur resident of Nepal. In this terror incident, both the labourers received gunshot injuries and were immediately shifted to hospital for treatment,” the spokesperson said.

“Initial investigation also revealed that both victims were called by terrorist to come out to engage in a work. The moment they came out, terrorist fired upon them with pistol,” he said.

“ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar has said that this cowardice and inhumane act of terrorism is being investigated on top priority and the terrorists involved in this terror crime would be brought to justice soon. Area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on,” he added.

Apni Party president Mohammad Altaf Bukhari condemned the attack.

In a statement, Bukhari said, “Saddened to hear that two non-local workers have been shot and injured in Anantnag. I wonder what the attackers want to achieve by attacking innocent migrant workers who are here to earn bread and butter for their families. I condemn this act of violence in the strongest possible terms.”
