JKP organises series of Cyber Crime Awareness Programmes

Srinagar: In view of the surge in trends of cyber-crimes and to create awareness among the general public, Police have organised a series of ‘Cyber Awareness cum Cyber Jagrukta’ programmes in, Pulwama, Awantipora and Budgam.

In Pulwama, the programmes were organized at different schools of the district. The programmes were hosted by various senior police and civil administration officers. The programmes were attended by respectable citizens of concerned areas, youths, teachers and students of various schools.

In Awantipora, programmes were organized at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Pampore, Police Station Tral and Police Station Awantipora. The programmes were chaired by concerned SDPOs along with SHOs of respective police stations. The programmes were attended by respectable citizens of concerned areas, youth, teachers and students of various schools.

In Budgam, programmes were organized at Town Hall Magam and Police Station Beerwah. The programmes were chaired by SDPO Magam and concerned SHOs of respective police stations. The programmes were attended by respectable citizens of concerned areas, youth, teachers and students of various schools.

The main motive behind conducting such programmes is to create awareness about trending cyber frauds among the general public particularly students. The chairing officers advised the participants to adopt safe browsing habits to avoid suspicious websites while surfing the internet. Participants were also advised not to share OTPs or bank account details or passwords with anyone and adopt precautions while performing internet banking and online transactions. Participants were also cautioned against accepting friend requests or chatting with unknown persons on social media.

In Budgam, the chairing officers advised the participants that mobile phones used by juveniles should be frequently checked as the radical elements are connecting to juveniles and showing them the wrong path. Besides, children must be restrained and discouraged to indulge in online gaming which usually turns dangerous for them over a period of time.

In conclusion, the participants appreciated the efforts of the Police for organising such programmes to spread awareness about various cyber-crimes among the common masses.
