The event was attended by Director Rural Sanitation J&K, Charandeep Singh along with other concerned officers.

While interacting with the delegates, Director, Rural Sanitation, demonstrated the SBM-G’s interventions implemented during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, 2022 highlighting the meticulous plan of scientific management of solid waste generated adopted during the yatra.

He further informed that a total of 50 KM trek was cleaned and a total of 12 waste management camps were installed having specialized machinery such as mechanical and electric shredders, and bailing machines that operated during the Yatra.

The focus of the plan was on ensuring the segregation of bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste by using appropriate techniques.

During the yatra period, a total of 280 tons of organic waste was converted into compost and distributed among the pilgrims and local farmers as souvenirs. A total of 185 tons of dry and plastic waste was collected and recycled which was shredded and subsequently transformed waste into wealth.

Director also talked about the unfortunate cloud burst, which posed a challenging time for sanitation workers, but they stood like a pillar and accomplished their duties in a commendable way.
