First-ever Inter College Sports Festival culminates at GCPE Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: The week-long 1ST ever Inter College Sports Festival Culminated today which was being organized here at Government College of Physical Education (GCPE), Gadoora.

The felicitation ceremony was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir, Director Youth Services, and Sports J&K, Subash Chander Chhibber, and Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Bashir Ahmad.

The sports festival was held with a view to providing a platform for the students to showcase their talent in which around 3000 players participated from 27 colleges across the Kashmir Province. The festival was held in 05sports including Football (Men), Volleyball (Men & Women), Basketball (Men & Women), Kho-Kho (Men & Women), and Table-Tennis (Women).

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal in his address highlighted the initiative taken for the development of sports infrastructure at the GCPE and said that we are proposing to develop Gadoora as a sports village so that national games are also organized here and said that district administration will provide all possible support to the College authorities in this regard.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Youth Services and Sports J&K, Subash Chander Chhibber complimented the Principal GCPE and other faculty members for their support to make the event successful which certainly provided ample opportunities to the students to showcase their hidden sports talent.

Later, the winning teams and best performers were given sports kits, cash prizes,s and trophies by the dignitaries.

Among others, the Principal GCPE, District Youth Services, Sports Officers, and faculty members from participating colleges were present on the occasion.
