Dir Horticulture takes stock of departmental activities in Shopian

SRINAGAR: Director Horticulture Kashmir, G. R. Mir, today visited district Shopian to take stock of different departmental activities in the district.

At the outset, he visited the office of Chief Horticulture Officer Shopian where he interacted with the officers of the Department and emphasized upon them for timely completion of given targets.

He urged the officers to make proper and full expenditures under CAPEX and the centrally sponsored schemes. He also urged the officers to make frequent visits to the field and conduct awareness camps on a routine basis and provide the growers with the latest technical know-how.

Later, Director visited Fruit Plant Nursery and Shopian, Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development (ACHD) Zainpora where he took stock of various nursery operations like hoeing, weeding, summer pruning, etc.

On the occasion, he stressed the propagation of quality fruit plants. He instructed the officers to make optimum utilization of land and other resources in the nurseries. He further stressed to the staff to speed up nursery operations and focus on orchard and nursery sanitation.

Dir also reviewed the work of Almond Nursery being developed at Zainpora under the CAPEX Scheme.
