DC Kupwara flags off group of 60 girl students for trekking tour

KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today flagged off a group of 60 school girls for a trekking tour from DC Office Kupwara in presence of Officers of Youth Services & Sports and Education.

On the occasion, the DC interacted with the students who were looking enthusiastic about going on an expedition.

He enquired about the facilities being provided to the trekking students. It was informed that as many as 60 girl students, representing various schools across the district are participating in the five days trekking programme in the Nowgam-Bungus area. 43 officials, representing various Committees including 7 female members are accompanying the trekking group.

It was further informed that all arrangements including security and residential facilities have been put in place properly.

The DC asked students to make the best use of the trekking tour and learn more about forest wealth, different species of trees, and adventure tourism.

Later, while talking to the media, the DC said that the Kupwara district is full of tourism potential, especially in adventure tourism and trekking.

He said the District Administration is making all possible efforts to develop more trekking points and added that this year various good steps have been taken in the district to give a boost to the tourism sector. He said in the near future Kupwara will make a name and fame in these segments of the tourism sector.
