Srinagar: Police on Tuesday booked a cleric for allegedly beating a boy for not wearing ‘Shalwar suit’ at the seminary in Ganderbal district.

A police spokesman said that on Monday evening a written complaint was submitted by one Mohammad Sadiq Cheche, son of Abdul Rashid Cheche of Kangan Wuder, alleging that his minor son Bilal Ahmad Cheche has been allegedly beaten by a Molvi — Reyaz Ahmad Khantana, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Wuder, Kangan in a local Dar-ul-Uloom for not wearing “Khandress’ (Shalwar suit) which is dress code in Dar-ul-Uloom.
