Two LeT associates detained under PSA in Bandipora: Police

Srinagar: Police on Sunday booked two alleged terrorist associates of under Public Safety Act (PSA).

As per a police spokesman, one accused is Ishfaq Majeed Dar alias Salahuddin, son of Abdul Majeed Dar of Saderkoot Bala. Police said Dar is a “hard-core ANE (anti-national element) & was in touch with terrorist in PoK & was given the task by his handlers across the border to mobilise the youth in Bandipora for recruiting them into banned terror organisation LeT”

He was also “tasked to identify police/CRPF naka’s in Hajin area of Bandipora along with coordinates for carrying terror attacks in the area,” police spokesman said.

He said the other person — Waseem Ahmad Malik alias Obaid alias Osama, son of Abdul Gani Malik of Gundpora Rampora “was also in touch with PoK-based terrorist Hashir Parray, whose module was recently busted by Bandipora police.”

Police said Malik was establishing “new associates in Bandipora town and adjacent areas and was working on to lure youth of Bandipora towards terror sympathisers and to establish terror sleeper cells in Bandipora district.”

Spokesman said “keeping in view their tendencies towards mobilising the youth towards terror activities and to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Bandipora district, both of them were detained under PSA.”
